What telehealth is
Telehealth brings mental health care to you, wherever you are in Idaho. Through a secure video connection, you can meet with a counselor, peer support specialist, case manager, or other ABM provider from your home, your office, or another private space, without traveling to one of our offices. Telehealth sessions offer the same kind of support as in-person sessions, with the added convenience of staying close to home.
Telehealth is especially helpful for people who live far from an office, who have transportation or mobility challenges, who have busy work or family schedules, or who simply feel more comfortable talking from their own home. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and an internet connection, plus a quiet, private place for your session.
Who telehealth may generally help
Telehealth may generally help adults, youth, and families across Idaho who want counseling or other mental health support but cannot easily reach an office in person. It can help people in rural communities, people with limited transportation, parents balancing childcare, and anyone who wants care that fits around work, school, or family life.
Telehealth can support many of the same needs as in-person care, including stress, anxiety, depression, grief, life changes, and relationship concerns. Your provider will talk with you about whether telehealth is a good fit for your situation, and in-person sessions remain available at our Idaho offices when you prefer them.
What telehealth sessions and a week may look like
A typical week with telehealth looks much like a week of in-person care. Most people meet with a counselor once a week for a one-on-one video session, scheduled at a regular time. Before your session, you will receive a link or instructions for joining the video call. At the scheduled time, you join from your private space, and your provider meets with you just as they would in an office.
Between sessions, you may work on practical coping skills, routines, or goals discussed in your session. Other services, such as case management, peer support, family support, or CBRS, can also be provided by telehealth when appropriate, and your provider will help coordinate the mix of services that fits your needs.
Telehealth across Idaho
Telehealth is available statewide in Idaho. Whether you live in Boise, Middleton, Twin Falls, Moscow, Kamiah, or anywhere else in the state, you can access ABM services by video. In-person appointments are also available at our five Idaho offices, so you can choose the format that works best for you, and change it as your needs change.
Insurance and getting started
We accept most insurance plans in Idaho, and Medicaid is welcome. We help verify benefits before services begin, including whether your plan covers telehealth, so you know what to expect.
